Don’t forget that your slow cooker is your friend when you have guests, especially during the holidays. It relieves that last-minute pressure as you’re putting the food on the table. And you won’t need to jam your oven so full if you let your cooker be your helper.
Beef Burgundy has become a holiday staple for me. My daughters grew up with this as part of our Christmas feast each year, and now our son-in-law requests it whenever I ask him what he’s hungry for! It is a recipe that has rich, complex flavors, but is simple to make. It also has a beautiful presentation.
We made this recipe recently for one of our classes at The Good Cooking Store and wanted to share it with you. Try this when you’re having guests, and you’ll find you can spend more time visiting. And your friends will love the food.
Do you ever feel like a free taxi-service? You know, those days when you’re driving here, there, and everywhere. Drop the kids off at school, run to the grocery store, grab a gift for a wedding or baby shower, pick up the kids from practice, take them to guitar lessons, and the list goes on and on and on.
It was on a recent busy day that we made Gone-All-Day Casserole.
We had all the ingredients lying around the kitchen so we gathered them in the morning, tossed ‘em together in the slow cooker, and forgot about dinner until it was time to eat. We added a side ofTortellini Caesar Salad and, voilà, dinner was served.
One of our favorite features about this hearty casserole is that it makes a lot of food! This way, when we’re gone all day again later in the week, we can heat up leftovers for a quick lunch or dinner.
