I like sweet stuff in the morning when I’m drinking the darkest roast coffee I can find.
Really, I’d do better with dessert in the morning and breakfast food in the evening. I’m not after egg-y dishes when I’m just getting awake. Nor potatoes or pork—which reminds me of something I’ve wondered about for a long time: why do we North Americans tend to have only pork on breakfast menus, and not beef or chicken or fresh fish?
Anyway, I try not to eat desserts at home with our evening meal, and when we go out I’m usually too full to enjoy a great sweet—so why not start the day with that? Add some fruit and yogurt to your breakfast menu and be sure to get your protein with lunch and/or dinner.
I love this autumn-sounding Apple-Pear Crisp. And I want mine for breakfast.
Whichever way you’re put together, this recipe looks mighty satisfying first-thing or last-thing in the day--
