Wagon of Squash

Our local country fairs ended this week and won't begin again until next fall. And now the geese are slowly honking their way south. This means pumpkin season is in full swing in Lancaster County! This wagon full of pumpkins sits at a local produce stand located just outside of town. Mmmm, suddenly we’re hungry for pumpkin muffins and pumpkin pie, not to mention pumpkin spice lattes!

And fall flowers are rarely a disappointment. These mums at our local greenhouse are just about to burst with vibrancy and vitality. Mums like these will brighten the gardens and doorsteps of many local homes during autumn.

Two Balloons

There’s more than one way to take in the beauty of Lancaster County’s rolling hills and farmland. It is not uncommon to see several hot air balloons on our drive to and from the office at this time of year. These balloonists are nearly ready for take-off. What you can’t see in this photo is all the people watching along the side of the road, probably wishing they could hop in the basket too.

Amish School

Summer vacation is over and this one-room Amish schoolhouse is filled with reading, writing, arithmetic, and children’s laughter once again. Amish children go to school through eighth grade, and one teacher instructs them all.
