Polish Sausage and Sauerkraut

Makes 4–6 servings
Prep. Time: 25 minutes
Cooking Time: 6–7 hours
Ideal slow-cooker size: 6-qt.
27 oz. Polish sausage, cut into 1½-inch angled pieces
4 slices of cooked bacon, chopped
2 Golden Delicious apples, peeled and cut into thin slices
2 lbs. sauerkraut, drained and rinsed well
½ of a large red onion, sliced
1 bay leaf
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 Tbsp. brown sugar
12 oz. dark beer
1. Place all of the ingredients into your crock, pouring the beer in last.
2. Cover and cook on Low for 6–7 hours.
3. When you are ready to serve, remove the bay leaf and discard it.
