Slow Cooker Recipe

An Apple (Recipe) A Day

Spiced Apples

November is National Apple Month, and we think apples and slow cookers go together very nicely indeed.

Apples cook up beautifully in the slow cooker, and can be prepared in so many ways. The aroma of apples and spices simmering gently in the slow cooker is one of the nicest kitchen smells we can think of. And apples produce tasty and healthy desserts that can be consumed without guilt. Have we convinced you yet?

Our Fix-It and Forget-It cookbooks all contain lots of apple recipes. Why not spend the rest of the month cooking your way through the “apple” section of the index? Here’s a recipe to get you started:

      > Depends on the size of the apple, but I usually plan about 1 apple per cup, so in this case, 16 apples give or take a few.

apples are expensive. if i half a recipe, would i use the same amount of time and not mess them up (too dry or burning)?

      > Amber – try to use a smaller crockpot if you do cut it in half – it will lessen the chance of drying them out or burning them.
