We’re celebrating you, our wonderful fans, with a great slow-cooker giveaway.
Why do we love you so? There are lots and lots of reasons, but we’re especially grateful today for all your help with our most recent book project, Tips for Using Your Slow Cooker. We’re so pleased with the finished product, and it wouldn’t have happened without your participation.
To say thank-you, we’re giving away one of our favorite slow cookers to one lucky winner. The All-Clad 6.5-quart programmable slow cooker features High and Low settings, and automatically switches to Keep Warm when time elapses. That means dinner is ready when you are. The removable black ceramic insert provides gentle uniform heat to create richly flavored soups, stews, casseroles, and braised meats. Both the insert and the tempered glass lid are dishwasher-safe.
(All-Clad doesn’t know that we’re giving away this slow cooker.)

Hi,
We do not allow picky eaters at our table. I do have one child that does not like sandwiches….she can eat the sandwich ingredients separately, but does have to eat what we are having.
> Well, when I cooked for MY children they had a list of The 10 Most Hated Foods and I never made them even try those again, Everything else must be consumed. Some of the 10 were so funny, tomatoes..brown sugar cinnamon Pop-Tarts (?), mustard, for example. Pretty easy to avoid for dinner. Now that I have grandchildren, I cook to PLEASE them
When my children were young – we had the three bite rule – take three bites see if you like it – if you didn’t – that was okay – I would wait a few months and try it again. We all have different taste buds and some of us like some things and others don’t.>
> We always find that making a game of it and even singing together helps. We laugh and try not to scold. We have USED the TV
but it seems to be a distraction sometimes and we know they are at least gonna get some nutrition in their tummies. Reading a book and also the turn of each page means a mouthful. Everyday is a new day as to what will work.
One day this challenge shall too pass!
> Hi, I love cooking in the crock pot, Sure could use a new one though. This crock pot looks real nice. And i love the recipes! Thanks
> I was determined, as my girls grew up, that they were introduced to anything and everything. Even now at 8 and 10 years old, they HAVE to try a small amount of something new. If they truly don’t like it, I never force more. Because they are used to this line of thinking, they are more open, even if visually they are uncertain. It has helped them discover on their own what they enjoy and what they don’t. My youngest still doesn’t like raw tomatoes (how is that even possible????) and will pick out large cooked ones from dishes. I feel the same way about green peppers (I know, how is that even possible, one might say) but that hasn’t kept me from introducing them to the girls. Consequently, my oldest likes them!
(Now, if I could just get them to quit goofing off at dinner, which seems to take them an hour to finish…..sigh.)
> We have a “no thank you” helping at our house; the kids have to try a small portion of everything, even if they say “no thank you”! This way I get many “Hey, that is pretty good” comments!
Way to go, Susie. We had one picky eater but with lots of love, patience and persuasion, he has ended up liking just about everything. Good parenting. Thankfulness is key.
> Although my girls are grown, I did not have picky eaters. Each one had one food that they would NEVER eat. I did not force that on them. But I expected them to at least try a few bites of something new. Most of the time, they seemed to like what I cooked.
> well we have a 3 yr old and she is only picky on meat
> We make them try at least one bite of something they may not be fond of and try to respect the fact that we all have different tastes. If they really can’t tolerate it we make sure that we have cooked something that is nutritional and to their liking in the meal.
> When I cook in a slow cooker, the “pickiness” usually goes away – everybody likes slow-cooked chicken, pork, or beef when it tastes so good and the meat and vegetables can literally be cut with a fork.
In years past, my daughter was a picky eater when she was very young – her older brother ate EVERYTHING. We had a no-thank-you helping rule – just try it. If she wouldn’t even try the nutritious food, she had to sit in her chair and watch her brother not only finish his meal but eat dessert right in front of her. Funny . . . she wanted the sweets so much at she often would change her mind when she saw him eating cookies! It worked like a charm.
Hi!!
> Hi..I always told my kids they could have peanut butter if they did not want what I had cooked. Sometimes they wanted the peanut butter instead.
I cook what I cook and they can eat it or not.
I already know what my little one likes; however, I do puree veggies and ad them into dishes and he never knows what hit em’.
Love, love, love my crock pot !
I don’t know of any picky eaters but if my son does not like what I am making, I will make him something different as he is only 5 years old. Otherwise, this is not a restaurant! You eat what I put in front of you or make your own (and I mean that toward my DH! LOL but luckily for me -or him-he eats whatever I cook!!)
I don’t usually have picky eaters but when I do, I’ve found that if they can pick something to add to the menu it really changes their mind. And of course, NOTHING better than some country style ribs slow-cooked all day long for that fall off the bone goodness!
I have a busy life…run run run..I love cooking in my crock pot..wish I had another one..that would make life so much easier to fix my other stuff and just let it cook…more time to spend with my six year old daughter…and my hubby of course…love this site…constantly looking at it…Pick me Pick me..LOL…
For picky eaters that have not tried something, they have to take a very small amount to try. If it is something they really don’t like they I will make something small for them to have.
No picky eaters here. Just a dairy allergy that complicates dinner sometimes
There is usually enough made to eat that they have choices to choose from, but in general they eat what is made.
Everyone eats the same thing at our table, but i will make a separate pan with no onion or peppers for my son…
Hi!
No picky eaters here but we love the crock pot
No picky eaters in my house! I started early on teaching them that foods that may not be their favorite can be cooked up different ways where they may like them.
I don’t have really picky eaters, they learned long ago that they will eat what I make or fix it them selves – LOL — would love to win this cooker!
I am so fortunate to not have picky eaters. My hubby and my son eat just about anything. My son is not particularly fond of tomato but he will eat it in a sauce. Love that my family likes all types of food!!
They always love everything i cook…so really don’t have picky eaters!
If they don’t like it, they don’t eat, but they don’t get dessert either!!!
When I find a fabulous recipe that my picky eaters like, I 5 ***** it and make it every week to the point they no longer like it, LOL!!!
I just made A 7 qt. crock pot of beef stew yesterday and the ay before that i made a pot roast
I try to make something the picky eater will eat to go with whatever else we’re having.
My daughter is a picky eater. In order to get her to eat, I go ahead and try to be creative by making animals or something she likes. Other then that, I love your page and would LOVE to win this!
I only have 1 kid left at home, a college student….if she doesn’t like what I’m cooking, she can cook for herself. lol!
When my kids were younger they were expected to eat whatever was served. I wouldn’t cook for each individual. I had the same rules for my home daycare. Eat what’s on the table or you don’t eat.
Can’t tolerate them! And don’t! But I know one way to head it off is to get the kid involved in meal preparation. Have them shake a drop of tabasco sauce into the chili. Have the push the chopped carrots into the pot. Have them wrap up the potato in foil before it bakes (in the slow cooker!). You can even go so far as to have them put the seed into the ground to grow a vegetable garden.
I only have one picky eater and I make sure all the kids at least try something a couple times before they decide they absolutely don’t like it
my 12 year old autistic son is a picky eater but sometimes he surprises me and I made the meatloaf you have here on the site the other day and put it over mashed potatoes and peas and he gobbled it all up!!
The complainer has to do the dishes by themselves. Normally we all help clean up.
I allow choices for breakfast and lunch but dinner is whatever I make. If you don’t like it, you don’t eat dinner. My youngest loves bread and we won’t give him a roll, garlic bread, etc until he’s eaten some of his other food.
Hi!, My son will eat a sandwich as long as there is meat and bread only.
My hubby is usually the picky eater. I have recently pinned the crockpot meals on Pinterest, and if I win this beautiful crockpot, I will definitely be making lots of those meals!!
Luckily my 2 sons are grown and I have to say they werent really picky eaters…well my oldest was and still is kinda…but Id still love to win this so I could cook them something good to eat!!!
Nothing beats putting a bunch of ingreidents together in the morning and having dinner ready when you get home!
I have to agree with the first post. Definitely not allowed at my table. You eat what’s put before or you don’t eat. My kids aren’t picky because of that though. If you’re hungry enough, you’ll eat. ;o)
No picky eaters at my table, unless it is me!
My husband is the picky eater. He doesn’t like anything but meat and potatoes so I like to make casseroles, stews, etc. so that I can mix everything together and “hide” the veggies. A slow cooker would do the job nicely
I have one child that says he hates onions. But I cook with onions and I am not changing for one child out of 5. Our oldest daughter used to also “hate” onions but now likes them. So, if he wants to take the time to pick out the onions, he can, but he will eat what we present.
Hi
I have four children, and only one is a picky eater; my youngest who is three. He’s a junk food junky and would live off from cookies and ice cream if I let him. Fortunately, cookies and ice cream are great leverage. If he wants a treat, he needs to take so many bites of each thing on his plate. His love of refined sugary treats always overpowers his stubbornness to try new things
Love my crock pot!!
Offer a good variety and for young picky eaters have them just try a small bite of a new food.
HI.
With 6yr old and 9 yr old we make them try everything we make. They have to try at least 5 bites. If they don’t like it after the 5 bites then we always have hot dogs or pb&j. What has been working instead is that whoever finishes their plate gets to pick the next night’s meal. No worries about them eating too much because the plateful they are given is portioned for them.
I usually don’t have any picky eaters where I am…
At my house you have to try everything once….usually my kids end up liking whatever it is i made. If not have a bowl of cereal.
For the kids everyone’s taste buds seem to be different so we make everything fun. Adding smallest creative touches or even sauce can change their mind. If all else fails bribe with desert. Low fat slow cooked crock pot fudge us their fave.
Thankfully I don’t have picky eaters in my family. We enjoy all types of food, and willing to try anything.
I don’t think I have picky eaters! There are things they like more than other but they usually eat everything!
I think I am the pickiest eater of my bunch. I just cook what I like to eat and the rest eat it too.
