Did You See This?
Summer Kick Off Giveaway – May 20, 2013
We are in the home stretch! We are driving with the windows down

I love strong women. Women who’ve been through stuff. Especially when they’ve endured and turned more tender and wise on the other side of the trouble.

I’m guessing you know a bunch of these souls and have a few favorites.
In the last few months I’ve met several such women who’ve faced down the breast cancer demon. Plus other tough and tender women and men who care for those who are living with breast cancer.
You can meet these remarkable people in our brand new Fix-It and Forget-It PINK Cookbook (coming October 1 in both print and e-format).
I couldn’t be more excited about this latest Fix-It and Forget-It project. We’ve worked arm-in-arm with the Avon Foundation to bring out this new Cookbook.
You know Avon cosmetics. But did you know they have a non-profit foundation that gives $35-$40 million each year to organizations which assist persons who’ve been diagnosed with breast cancer?
I feature 11 of these extraordinary women and one man in this PINK Cookbook—their personal stories, their favorite recipes, their reasons for hope, their unbelievable enthusiasm for helping others who’ve been hit with the disease.

Yes, this is a Cookbook with more than 700 great slow-cooker recipes. But in the book’s opening 60+ pages, you’ll hear the stories of—
● Mara, a pregnant mom who got the dreaded news;
● Mita, a doctor with breast cancer patients who was suddenly diagnosed herself;
● Lillie, a nurse and a survivor, who plans retreats to help other survivors go on;
● Barbara, who did her first Avon Walk at age 60, just to see if she could. She’s since gone on to do more than 30 Walks and has raised more than $1 million for the Avon Crusade;
● And you won’t forget Craig, who makes meals for women who’ve been diagnosed, but have little financial resource. Craig’s organization feeds their families, too.
So why are these stories in a Fix-It and Forget-It Cookbook? Because food can settle us down, bring us together, strengthen our friendships, distract us from our fears, underline hope, remind us that we are not alone.
I haven’t been so fired up in a long time! Fix-It and Forget-It PINK Cookbook brings two communities together—those who want to feed their families good food at home, and those who want passionately to support those with breast cancer and to get rid of the disease.

You join these two sister causes when you buy and use this book.
We at Good Books are giving a minimum of $1.00 to the Avon Foundation for every copy of this book that sells.

Our crockpot is hardly ever put away. It comes in very handy for swimming & baseball practice. We are literally running to practice 5+ days a week at dinnertime, so it’s nice to come home to a hot and healthy meal.

My mom and my children’s godfather are both breast cancer survivors. I will definitely buy this book and probably a couple more for gifts!
Strawberry Cake with fresh strawberries is my Granddaughter’s favorite cake. We have been fortunate not to have had any breast cancer in our family, but support any thing that can help get rid of cancer.
Will buy the book if I am not lucky enough to win the contest
I have several people in my life that have been touched with breast cancer. Some didn’t make it and those that did live on in fear at times. I would love a set of these cookbooks in memory of my friends that weren’t so lucky even though they fought the fight of their lives.
Cant’t wait to get it! I’m getting Hungry!
I want this like yesterday lol I am an Avon rep And we support breast cancer foundation highly.
Are these healthy recipes ? Some of the other books are not.
I just bought your new cookbook this past weekend. I am currently reading it and cannot wait to try some of the recipes. My sister in law has been battleing cancer for 10 years after getting it in her 30′s. She still receives chemo every 3-weeks and will for 7 more years. Her cancer is agressive and her body lacks a gene to fight it.
I really do love my crock-pot and blog often about crock-pot recipes on my blog. I would love to review any new books.
