Ooooh, we love our sweets.
A brief and unscientific survey of the Fix-It and Forget-It offices found the following stashed in desk drawers and cubicles: dark chocolate-covered toffee flecked with sea salt (made by a local Amish woman!), a honey bear complete with honey, Wilbur Buds (a local chocolate treat we all love), sugar-free gum and diet sodas, dried fruit, and a dish of ice cream. (The ice cream was being consumed out of hand; it was not stashed.)
So we’re not here to make anyone feel guilty. Sweets in moderation are fine for most people, and there are lots of good sugar substitutes for diabetics and those watching their calories.
The folks at Mayo Clinic offer some helpful guidelines for keeping sugar consumption in the healthy range. Check them out here.
