Back to School

Amish School

Summer vacation is over and this one-room Amish schoolhouse is filled with reading, writing, arithmetic, and children’s laughter once again. Amish children go to school through eighth grade, and one teacher instructs them all.

Doesn’t it make you wonder why today’s teachers can’t seem to handle it when there are 20+/- children (all the same grade, I might add) in the classroom? IMHO, it has a lot to do with how they’re raised IN THE HOME!! I’ve had the opportunity to interact with Amish families on a regular basis, and their children are the most well behaved/mannered children I have EVER seen.

yes, I have to agree that Amish children are quiet and respectful from what I’ve seen. My daughter’s kindergarten class is soooo undisciplined and rowdy – her teacher spends more time herding cats than teaching at this point.
