Stove Top or Oven Recipe

Quick and Easy Chili

bowl of chili 1

Let’s be honest, there are a zillion recipes for chili out there and, in the end, no chili is like Mom’s chili. But who has time to stand over a pot and add four different types of beans and an array of spices at varying moments throughout the cooking process? Here’s a quick and easy stove-top recipe for chili. In fact, it’s called Quick and Easy Chili. Don’t worry, we made sure “quick and easy” did not mean “without taste.” Serve it with Lemon Bread and be sure to have a copy of both recipes on hand when Mom asks for them.

Quick and Easy Chili
Fix-It and Enjoy-It! 5-Ingredient Recipes, pg. 67
Makes 3—4 servings
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cooking Time: 25 minutes

Ingredients:
½ lb. ground beef, or turkey, browned and drained
1 medium-sized onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 15-oz. cans chili-style beans with liquid
8-oz. can tomato sauce

1. Brown ground beef in a large skillet.
2. Drain, leaving about 1 tsp. drippings in pan. Saute onions and garlic until softened.
3. Add beans, with liquid, and the tomato sauce. Bring to a slow boil.
4. Reduce heat to simmer and cook for 15 minutes.

5. Return meat to skillet. Heat together for 5 minutes.

Phyliss, we made this the other nite, but added more hot to it, jalapeno slices and served it with cornbread, it was even thicker the next day. Yummy:-)

This is NOT chili. Where is the chili powder or the spices that comprise it? This is Sloppy Joe with beans. No cook should mistake this recipe for chili.

You can get a better “quick & easy chili” from just opening a couple cans of Wolf Brand Chili, with or without beans. At least it will taste something like chili, which can’t be made quickly from scratch since it takes time for the vegetables & spices to cook & release their flavors fully.

This looks nice, but I prefer my own recipe for low-fat turkey chili. Using preflavored canned beans is cheating, in my opinion.

another easy way is with Chili Magic…add hamburger, stewed tomatoes and extra’s if you want, taste just like it was homemade.

Looks delicious and quick! My kids will want me add something spicy to it, but that would only take seconds to add some chili powder and jalapenos! Thanks for passing this along!

I use a jar of spaghetti sauce, ground turkey/beef, texmex chili powder and beans (kidney, baked, or pork and beans style)…just as quick and easy!

my quick and easy is: 1# ground beef, browned with onion and celery; 2 cans dark red kidney beans; 1 can tomato sauce; 2 Tbl chili powder; 1 Tbl sugar; salt and pepper to taste. Heat about half and hour and serve with whatever toppings you like. The men in my family expect this chili to be on the stove when they return from deer hunting…and since I go shopping instead this recipe is my life saver. They think I’ve been slaving all day. It’s so yummy I make it often.

I make a simple chili. It is 2 cans chili beans, 2 cans diced tomatoes made for chili and I jar salsa. You can make as hot as you want by using mild, medium, or hot salsa. Browned ground beef and 1 1/2 cups water. put in pot and cook 30 minutes. Have had lots of compliments on this chili.

Lmaris – the recipe calls for “chili style beans” which come preseasoned with chili powder, etc. . .

I did a little chili experiment with my crockpot this morning while we were at church: I put the stuff I use for (vegetarian) chili in the crockpot and turned it on. Normally I would saute the onions first, but actually, it turned out just fine cooking all together in the crock. EASY. and smelled so good when we came home for dinner.

Since this is a quick & easy recipe, those rude people above should realize you is not going to spice it like a full blown chili, enough said.
I think your recipe is wonderful, because hubby like lots of chunky meat, i’ll need to have at least a full pound of meat. otherwise, your recipe looks delicious as it is!! Thank you!!
